Camping in France 2018 - Part 1 Ty Nadan

This years summer holiday was a bit of a funny one really as due to the dates and times of travel we had to book a couple of odd days here and there to fill the gaps between our main campsites.

The first campsite we visited was called Ty Nadan which can be found on the southern coast of Brittany.

We know a variety of people who have visited Ty Nadan in the past with Eurocamp and Keycamp and so thought it would be a good choice.

Why Ty Nadan?

As we live in Devon the best option ferry wise was to go from Plymouth to Roscoff but unfortunately, the night crossing was fully booked by the time we chose our holiday. Instead, we decided to get the morning ferry which left at 8am.

Our family of 5 don’t do ferry crossings very well normally. I am always fine as is the youngest but everyone else normally feels slightly unwell especially on long crossings which is why we always usually take the night ferry or go from Dover to Calais.

We didn’t book a cabin on prior to travelling and so when we boarded we headed straight for the reception to see if there were any cabins still available. The great thing about doing this is that you can usually pick up a bargain. In the end, we paid around £30 for a cabin which would normally cost around £80!

The ferry crossing was good and got us into Roscoff at around 3pm. As our main holiday was at La Rive near Biscarosse, Ty Nadan was booked for just one night as a stopover location.

Our arrival to Ty Nadan

We arrived at Ty Nadan at some point just after 5pm and were pleased by what we saw on our arrival. The campsite was a decent size, was well laid out and seemed to have a good range of facilities.

Now although we were only staying for one night we decided to eat from the takeaway and have a good look round to see if it was somewhere that we’d like to go for a bit longer next time.

Ty Nadan Swimming Pool

The swimming pool looked very good and there were still plenty of people enjoying it when we arrived. The campsite is located right alongside a river which provides a great range of activities and there was also a high ropes course next to the river which looked fantastic.

The only criticism I would have about the campsite was that the games area and the entertainment area appeared to be all within a small barn which was very busy.

As I said, we only stayed here for a night but I was very impressed by what was on offer and I reckon that we’ll be heading back there for a weeks holiday at some point in the future.

After we left Ty Nadan we headed off for the first main campsite LA RIVE in Biscarosse which we’ll come onto next!
